Best moments of India
72
Times I saw and still feel proud of (When we had the right people at the right time and at the right place to take the right actions)
**Nat west trophy final between India and England in 2002 when the legendary parternship of Yuvraj singh and Mohmmand Kaif steered our boat to victory. An amazing turnaround by Yuvraj and Kaif saw India chase 325, one of the highest successful chases in an ODI. The match will also be remembered for Ganguly twirling his shirt at the end of the match!
**Economic reforms brought out in 1991 by the then FM Manmohan Singh to rescue our empty pockets.Taking advantage of its pool of high-quality scientific talent, international corporations have established large R&D centres in India. It is because of this genius think tank's policies that we are today the world's fouth largest economy in terms of purchasing power parity.
**Milestone man Sachin Tendulkar re-wrote the record books on 24th february 2010, hammering the first double century in the history of one-day cricket to add another feather to his well-adorned cap and we reiterated that "If Cricket is religion then Sachin is GOD".
This is what Time Magazine said about Sachin Tendulkar.............When Sachin Tendulkar travelled to Pakistan to face one of the finest bowling attacks ever assembled in cricket, Michael Schumacher was yet to race a F1 car, Lance Armstrong had never been to the Tour de France, Diego Maradona was still the captain of a world champion Argentina team, Pete Sampras had never won a Grand Slam.
When Tendulkar embarked on a glorious career taming Imran and company, Roger Federer was a name unheard of; Lionel Messi was in his nappies, Usain Bolt was an unknown kid in the Jamaican backwaters. The Berlin Wall was still intact, USSR was one big, big country, Dr Manmohan Singh was yet to "open" the Nehruvian economy. It seems while Time was having his toll on every individual on the face of this planet, he excused one man. Time stands frozen in front of Sachin Tendulkar. We have had champions, we have had legends, but we have never had another Sachin Tendulkar and we never will............
** 26th July 1999,When the largest democratic country of the world smashed "the most unsafe country to live" in Kargil 1999. Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrated in hounour of the martyrs of Kargil war rekindles the spirit of patriotism among the Hindustanis.
**When the whole world was reeling under "recession " and India simply asked what is that? "India is the place to be if you are looking for a job this year", Quoted text by Global Employment Outlook Survey by Manpower.
**When A.R. Rehman got the Academy award. What a night to remember. India at the Oscars will never be looked at the same. It was the big day forIndia, as music maestro AR Rahman became the first Indian composer ever to bring home two Oscar awards for best original song “Jai Ho” and best original score for the film “Slumdog Millionaire.
**When the following Martyrs chose to lay down their lives rahter than succumbing to the situation. They made India and humanity proud. They are the real heroes of India. IPS officer Hemant Karkare(Chief of Mumbai Anti Terrorist Squad who was killed in Mumbai attack),
Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan(He was killed in action while fighting terrorists in the November 2008 Mumbai attacks. His bravery was honoured with the Ashoka Chakra, India's highest peace time gallantry award, on 26 January 2009.), Sqd Leader Ajay Aahuja(Kargil War Martyr),Satyendra Dubey, (IIT-K alumnus and project director at the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). He was murdered in Gaya, Bihar after fighting corruption in the Golden Quadrilateral highway construction project.),
Shanmugam Manjunath(IIM Lucknow alumnus killed while fighting corruption in Indian oil), Captain Vikram Batra (13 JAK Rifles, and his Delta Company was given the task of recapturing Point 5140. Nick-named Sher Shah for his unstinting courage....at the end of the operation he single handedly killed 7 Pakistanis and recaptured the peak), Captain Anuj Nayyar (JCO, 17 JAT regiment ,who bravely fought in Kargil war) and all the martyrs who laid down their lives for mother India.
**When we were empowered with yet another right "Right to Information act" enabling us to question each and every action of govt of India. Enabling us to question even the corrupt babus......
**Where else in the world can we find more secular country than India......We have the Prime Minister of the country(Sikh) backed by Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, President of the Indian National Congress(Catholic Christian ) with the Vice President, Hamid Ansari(Muslim) and Meira Kumar , speaker of lok sabha(Dalit) to lead a country which has nearly 82% population as Hindus.
These are the moments I feel proud of......even you would have some moments in your memory lane which you feel would be even more glorious. Don't forget to add them in comments :)
Jai HIND!
